Martin Horvath of Arborg, MB passed away peacefully on April 30, 2026 at the Arborg Personal Care Home.
Martin was born on June 26, 1938, at his family homestead in Magnusville in the RM of Bifrost to Joseph and Mary Horvath. He was the youngest of six children.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife Josephine; his brother Louis; sisters, Rose, Anne, and Margaret; his grandson Ky; granddaughter Jennalee; and son-in-law Glenn Jonasson.
Left to cherish his memory are his sister Mary Horvath; his daughter Catherine; son Douglas (Naoko); and his grandchildren, Tem (Kie) and Aleah.
Martin graduated from Gimli High School in 1956 and began his career with C.N. Telecommunications as a lineman. Martin and Josie married on March 26,1966 and he became part owner of the family business, Acme Radiator in Winnipeg where he worked as a welder. In 1972, he further advanced his welding skills by joining Motor Coach Industries, working in the engineering and production department alongside his sister Anne. He worked on custom-built buses, including special orders for well-known country music artists such as Kenny Rogers, Crystal Gayle, and Dolly Parton.
Martin later chose to pursue his true calling and started his own carpentry business, Horvath's Renovations. He was multi-talented with many special trade skills. His attention to detail, strong work ethic and pride in craftsmanship earned him a solid reputation. Martin and Josie retired to their cottage in Arnes, MB in 1996. He was an active volunteer for the Gimli Art Club for many years. Together, they enjoyed travelling to Hawaii, Bahamas, England, France, and across North America. Martin continued building homes and doing carpentry work until they moved to Arborg in 2016.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to Dr. Donnelly, Dr. Nazim, and the amazing staff at the Arborg PCH for their compassionate and exceptional care over the past six years.
Martin was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother whose love for his family knew no bounds. He lived a life defined by hard-work, resilience and love.
